What is Back Warmer?
A back warmer, also known as a body warmer, is a stretch tube garment that dancers, gymnasts and other athletes wear above their leotards and other practice wear. For dancers and yogis, keeping muscles warm means better flexibility. For example, ballerinas use body warmers to achieve deeper backbends. It is especially popular to wear back warmers during competitions and in training camps to keep the muscles warm between classes and rehearsals as the buildings can be cold and the breaks are long. This way, the body is kept warm and is ready for performing.
Muscles stretch better if they are a few degrees warmer then your usual body temperature. This is particularly important for the muscles of the lower back, which are often tense, and therefore, when attempting a backbend can bruise easy, cramp or cause other injuries. That is why we recommend for dancers as well as for other athletes too use back warmers. Especially to children and athletes with less experience who are still getting acquainted with their muscles and therefore can injure themselves more easily.
In many dance schools, back warmers are mandatory. Ask your trainer for their opinion on body warmers. For group orders, the colour selection is wider and a discount of 10% applies. If you wish to get a discount then contact us!
