What is a boot or skate cover?
Boot covers are typically made of stretchy lycra material and are designed to cover the entirety of the skate, from the top of the boot down to just under the sole (wrapping underneath the boot just enough to hold the cover in place). The top and bottom of the boot cover are elasticated so that the cover will hold in place properly.
Boot cover is used by both figure skaters as well as rollerbladers.
Boot covers can be used for fashion purposes. The covers can be decorated with crystals or with PVC print. If you wish to decorate your boot covers then contact us!
The most typical reason for using boot covers is to protect the skates. The ice skate uppers are made of leather, which can get scratched and dinged like any other shoes. Ice can be rough when you scrape your boot during training for example.
Additionally, boot covers cover the laces so they help to prevent them coming loose and accidentally slipping on them.
To wear the boot covers, first, you put the boot cover on, and pull up to just below the knee, then put the boot on and lace-up as usual, and finally pull the cover over the boot.
How to choose the right sized boot cover?
Boot covers for figure skates are chosen according to shoe size. When getting boot covers for rollerskates then we recommend choosing covers that are meant for a few sizes larger boot as rollerblades are bulkier.
Evelily boot cover sizes are approximate as the material is very elastic.
M – suitable for under 36EU size figure skate. This size is usually used by kids or adults with smaller legs.
L – suitable for figure skates in sizes 36-40 EU. We also recommend this size for kids’ rollerblades or for adult rollerblades that are on the smaller side.
XL – suitable for figure skates in sizes 40+ EU. This size we recommend for male figure skates and for rollerblades in adult sizes.
